This morning birded with John Schmelefske around Alliston and Minesing Swamp near Angus. South of Alliston and just west of the Adjala-Tecumseh Line south of the 11th Line were many Canada Geese in a cornfield along with 4 Tundra Swans and a Snow Goose. In the Strongville area north of Minesing Swamp were 23 Sandhill Cranes, 2 adult male Snowy Owls, and many ducks including GW Teal, American Wigeon, Northern Shoveler, Ring-necked Duck, N Pintail, Bufflehead, Black Duck and Mallard. We also found 2 male BW Teal (near Minesing ), plus many Horned Larks, Wild Turkey, Eastern Meadowlark, Tree Swallows, Song Sparrows, Turkey Vultures, Northern Harrier, Killdeer, and 2 Greater Yellowlegs.
South of Merrett were 2 male Canvasback on a roadside lake. In a pond along Mount Hope Road just north of Cedar Mills was a Great Egret.
