Hello All,

I went to Ashbridge's Bay Park today to check out the long-staying Western
Grebe. The bird was still there, on the southeast point, hanging around with
a bunch of Long-tailed Ducks. I watched it for about five or so minutes, and
then a couple of boaters flushed the entire flock of Long-tails and the
grebe dove and could not be relocated. Like everyone said, a spotting scope
is a must.
I also managed to locate 4 ICELAND GULLS on the Marina docks. There were two
birds in juvenile plumage (one particularly pale), a second-year bird and an
adult. At one point all four could be seen in flight. There were also a
bunch of the regular waterfowl. No scoters or other grebes.

Directions:

Ashbridge's Bay Park is located south of Lake Shore Blvd East, at the foot of
Coxwell Avenue. Park in the marina parking lot and follow the paths to the
southeast corner of the park.

Good Birding,

Lev Frid
