Our resident grebes are back as of Today for sure. I heard and then saw the male at sunrise on Monday morning and the pair this morning.

The water levels are slightly higher than last year at this time

Depending on how Spring run-off shapes up, it could be that we will have nesting problems again this yesterday. Last year they nested really late and then were evicted by, as I recall, gulls. I believe that this determined pair have gone three or four years now without any successful offspring. Does anyone out there agree that we should put out a floating tire nest platform for these our loyal, unique, and entertaining pair?

Does any one have a good reason why we should not interfere in this case?

Best regards,

Eric Harrison, P.Eng.
