An adult drake Eurasian Wigeon was in Presqu'ile Bay this afternoon,
March 17. First sighted around 1.00 p.m. by Karl Wysotski, it was
visible from the Calf Pasture [Atkins lane] viewing stand and seen
by a number of people including myself between 1.00 and 1.30 p.m. It
was frequenting the edge of the ice to the left [west] of the stand.
Presqu'ile Park is south of Brighton. To reach Brighton from Highway
401 exit 509 drive south on Northumberland County Road 30. Turn west
in the centre of the village on
to County Road 2, and to reach Presqu'ile continue to County Road 66,
which is well marked
on the south side at the west end of town. There are maps in the park
showing the location of Atkins Lane.
