Good evening

Today Ian Cannell and I went out to look for Snowy Owls and in this we were
very successful with 11 Snowies found.

Or first 2 were 1 along 9th Line and 1 along 10th Line just north of Beeton.
Beeton is north of Bolton and west of Bradford, Exit #64 on Hwy 400.

From here we checked some other roads and at and in a feeder area along Humber
Station Road just south of Hwy 9 ( Davis Drive), SW of Bolton we found 14
White-winged Crossbills, 50 Common Redpolls, 1 Hoary Redpoll, 50 A. Goldfinch
along with A. Tree Sparrows, D-E Juncos and a few Pine Siskins.

We then headed over to the Holland marsh area and along Strawberry Lane and a
couple of other roads close by we found another 5 Snowy Owls and a Northern
Shrike. WE then decided to head over to the Edenvale area but before leaving
this area we found a large flock of approx. 1200 Snow Buntings among a large
heerd of Horses. This was on Hwy 9 ( Davis Drive ) at Jane Street.

In the Edenvale area we found a further 4 Snowy Owls before a freezing rain
told us it was time to head home. Edenvale is along Hwy 26 west of Barrie. Exit
#98 on Hwy 400.

Also seen on the outing were several Red-tailed Hawks, 1 hunting Merlin and 2
Porcupines.

Despite the cold weather forecast for the weekend it is still possible to view
these Owls as most of the Owl viewing can be done from the warmth and comfort
of your automobiles.

Good Luck for anyone that goes out.
