Hi all,
There are more than 1000 snow buntings in a flock that never seems to leave a field just outside the Six Nations Reserve near Brantford. I've seen the flock for the past week and never really had the chance to get a good look at the birds until today. I was only able to identify Buntings.I did not see anything else.however, there were only about 500 birds flying/feeding on the ground. There must have been another 1000 in the top of the trees at the back of the field. Perhaps someone with more time and a better eye than me might be able to pick out a rarity. The field is on Hwy 54 just east of Painter road. It is directly across the street from a smoke shack called "KT smokes" . It is the last smoke shack on hwy 54. The field has a rail line at the back (north). You can get there by taking the Garden ave. exit from the 403 and heading south. In approx 4km you'll turn left at hwy 54 to Cayuga/Caledonia/Six Nations. The field is just past Painter Road on the left. It is approx 10min drive from Garden ave. Good luck.let me know if you see anything worth while.
