While driving north on the DVP around 2:15 today,
somewhere between Bloor and Don Mills exits, we
saw two herons - a little hard to identify given
that we were driving and they were high overhead,
and too small to be Great Blues so most likely BC
Night Herons (which occasionally winter over on
the Don River).

Then, after my son's hockey game at Canlan Ice
Sports - Scarborough Arena, as I was walking
around the NW corner of the building back to the
car, a flock of White Winged Crossbills flew into
the coniferous trees. Arena location: Passmore
Ave. and Markham Rd. (just N. of Finch).

(As an aside, our team won. Sure glad I went in
spite of a sore back).
