Hi Ontbirders:

I took out an outing this afternoon of about 15 members of the Ottawa Field
Naturalists' Club to look for winter birds in the agricultural area around Ste.
Rose in Eastern Ontario.

We ended up with four Snowy Owls (most in the area of Concession Road 19 and
Ste. Rose Road), All appeared to be darker juveniles. There were also numerous
flocks of Snow Buntings (about 500 in total) with a few Horned Larks mixed in.

We came across a large number  of Rough-legged Hawks (12), Common Ravens and
American Crows that all appeared to be taking turns feeding on some kind of
carcass near a farmhouse on Concession Road 19 near the village of Ste. Isidore

The other notable sighting was a flock of a dozen Pine Grosbeaks feeding on
Maple keys in trees in front of a farmhouse on Concession Road 17 near Ste.
Rose Road.

Good birding
