Greetings!
If you have not had your fill of White Winged Crossbills then check out
Cranberry Marsh. There were about 300 or so in the pines by the road. They
flew from tree to tree and didn't mind us humans hanging around.

At Thickson's there were more White Wings and in and amongst them were a
handfull of Common Redpolls.

As well there were several Red Tail hawks flying about along with the local
northern Harrier. People before us saw a Long Eared Owl (way high up) and
the resident Great Horned was gadding about.

Angela also saw a Northern Shrike in the bracken by the road.

To get to Thickson's Woods exit the 401 at Thickson road in Whitby and head
south. It will be on your left (look for the sign).

To get to Cranberry Marsh exit the 401 at Salem and head south to Bayly St.
and turn left. Go east on Bayly and cross into Whitby (it now turns into
Victoria) and turn right at Halls road. Drive slowly as there is almost
always something to see on the drive in.

Cheers,

Bernie Monette
