Hello All,
I was birding Kortright this morning. The weather was nice and there were
lots of birds to be found.

Three SWAMP SPARROWS are still in the Kortright Marsh. It is easy to see
them from the boardwalk right when you enter the cattails. Listen for their
calls and watch for movement. A flock of 30 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS was
present in the spruces just past the cattails on the boardwalk, as was a
small flock of GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS. Watch for the female Red-Bellied
Woodpecker, though I haven't seen her lately. A GREAT BLUE HERON is hanging
around the Humber River, and also in the Kortright Marsh.

The friendly NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD is still around. It is hanging around by
the base of the largest white wind turbine, near the small pond there. In
the "Shrubs for Wildlife" area, I flushed a RUFFED GROUSE, only my third
record for Kortright. There were two NORTHERN SHRIKES, one sitting on an
Aspen near the entrance, and one near the feeders after you pass the big
Sugar Maple plantation.
