Ran into a small group of SEO's hunting in the fields on the way out from owl woods. See link for image, other images of short-eareds from taken can be found under user name newfoundlander61. The trail to owl woods is heavy with snow so snow shoes would make it alot easier then my walk without. Some birders did manage to drive in from the North trail. Only owls found in owl woods today were long eared.

Stella Forty Foot Raod is the road straight off the ferry, and South Shore Road is at the end of it. To get to owl woods turn left at stop sign shortly after leaving the ferry; after 3 km there is a narrow road to the south. The entrance to the woods is at the point this road turns east and then south again.
