There was a single LITTLE GULL today in the middle of East Lake (scope
required) which could be viewed from the boat ramp on Cty. Rd 18 across from
the Sandbanks P.P. entrance in Prince Edward County. About 40 MUTE SWANS were
also on the lake. There are still lots of TUNDRA SWANS around with sixty seen
from the Rutherford-Stevens Lookout and thirty in South Bay. Also at South Bay
was an adult BALD EAGLE checking out the waterfowl. There are still plenty of
HORNED GREBES at Prince Edward Point along with the usual high numbers of
LONG-TAILED DUCKS, RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, GREATER SCAUP and WHITE-WINGED
SCOTERS. Other sightings include 2 DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS, 2 WHITE-THROATED
SPARROWS, 1 REDHEAD, 6 GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS, 3 NORTHERN SHRIKES, 1 NORTHERN
FLICKER and plenty of AMERICAN ROBINS and CEDAR WAXWINGS.
On the mainland about one km. from the Glenora Ferry on Hwy. 33 was a SNOWY
OWL perched on a hydro pole right beside the road. In Bath at Heritage Park
there was a large flock of gulls with 1 first winter ICELAND GULL and 1 adult
GLAUCOUS GULL. There was a flock of 6 KILLDEER along the shoreline.

To find the East Lake boat launch follow the signs to Sandbanks PP from
Bloomfield. At the intersection of Cty Rds. 12 and 18 continue on 18 rather
than following 12 to the park gate. The entrance to the boat launch is about
1 km farther on your left, a small unmarked sideroad 200m past a blue sign
saying "Outlet". If you cross the bridge over the river you have gone too
far.
Prince Edward Point - Located in Prince Edward County. Take exit 566
(Marysville) off the 401 and go south on County Road 49 to Picton. Take County
Rd. 8 to County Rd. 17 to County Rd. 16 to County Rd. 13. Follow County Rd. 13
to the end until you reach the Prince Edward Point National Wildlife Area
Heritage Park is at the end of Heritage Drive which is on the south side of Hwy
33 across from the gas station on the east side of Bath.
