Winds were moderate but gusty and brisk from the northwest varying to the west-northwest. Raptor Observations: A fairly steady movement of birds was recorded distributed fairly evenly throughout the day before tapering off sharply in the mid afternoon. While predictably dominated by Red-tails, the movement had a fair diversity highlighted by the handful of Golden Eagles recorded. Non-raptor Observations: Large numbers of Tundra Swans are now present in the Pointe Mouillee area with several hundred feeding there at any given time today and many more moving overhead throughout the day. Huge groups of diving ducks were also present (Scaup and Redheads). Several groups of Sandhill Cranes were noted today southbound, the largest single group numbering almost 60 birds. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Calvin Brennan ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) SMRR- Pointe Mouillee State Game Area information may be found at: http://www.smrr.net/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
