Just before sundown today (4:50pm, November 17), Ross Wood and I observed a Snowy Owl at the southern end of the causeway (Highway 59) which crosses the Big Creek Marsh at Long Point. It flew out from the marina on the east side of the road and across the ponds where Tundra Swans and other waterfowl are now congregating. It then disappeared from sight near the first cluster of cottages on Hastings Drive. The bird was re-found around 5:15pm toward the west end of Hastings Drive by Stuart Mackenzie and Youssif Attia.
Long Point is located at the southern terminus of Highway 59 on the shore of Lake Erie in Norfolk County.
