After completing our section of the Hamilton Fall Count, Brian Ahara, Scott
Watson and I raced to Fort Erie to look for the juvenile Sabine's Gull. We had
little trouble finding it.

We started by looking for birders on the U.S. side of the river. Once we got
past the fishermen, we observed 4 or 5 birders all intently looking at a
close-by gull. It was the juvenile Sabine's and we were extremely envious that
the bird was no more than 20 feet from them, and across the river from our
position. One of them had a camera and no doubt was getting amazing photos.

After viewing the bird by scope for some 15 minutes, it took off and flew
upriver a short distance then flew directly across to the Canadian side landing
in a group of perhaps 40 Bony's very close to where we were standing (opposite
house # 451 Niagara Parkway). Moving closer we had excellent views of the
preening and bathing bird, now only 50 feet away.

Once in Fort Erie start looking for the bird along the river between the Peace
Bridge and the Railway Bridge to the north.
