My brother Robert found and photographed a white morph Ross's Goose on October
14 on mud flats in the marshes around River Canard, a small community near
Amherstburg, Ontario. I think this is a pretty early date for these parts.
Today we relocated the bird in the same general area, across from a house whose
address is 9070 Canard Drive. It was with many hundreds of Canada Geese, of
which a few thousand must be present in a short stretch along this road. There
are also hundreds of Killdeer and some peeps still present, along with at least
2 Long-billed Dowitchers. The Ross's Goose can be found by taking Canard Drive
from Malden Road, a distance of a couple kilometers or so.
