Weather:
A beautiful day...but TOO nice as far as the hawkwatching went. Winds
didn't cooperate with light E winds switching fairly quickly to moderate
from the SE and S. Virtually no cloud cover for the day and temp reached
13C.
Raptor Observations:
A very slow flight today...eventually forcing a move up the road to our
secondary site at the Sparta Ridge. Total birds was just 193...mostly
Redtails (21) and TV's (161).
Non-raptor Observations:
Lots of passerines on the move today...the highlight was several flocks of
Pine Siskins (the largest about 70 birds) that passed overhead very near
the counters. Also spotted...Tree Swallows (3), Red-bellied Woodpecker (1),
Eastern Phoebe (1), Eastern Bluebird (7). We also spotted 1 very late
Monarch for the day.
