Hello Birders,

I birded Kortright for both days of the weekend, and found some notables.

At the "Shrubs for Wildlife" section, an early NORTHERN SHRIKE was harassing
the hundreds of ROBINS & WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS. It stayed there for
approximately 5-6 minutes until a COOPER'S HAWK scared it off. One northern
shrike last year wintered at Kortright.

Sifting through the hordes of White-Throated Sparrows, I discovered two FOX
SPARROWS and a male EASTERN TOWHEE, in the "Shrubs for Wildlife" area as
well.

As you enter Kortright, immediately after the fee station to the right is a
fenced off path. If you follow that path straight (you should have a small
pond to your left), you will reach an open field bordered with shrubs. Here,
amongst the flocks of Robins, I noted a BROWN THRASHER. It's really skulky
and could take some time to see if you try to find it.

There was also a juvenile YELLOWTHROAT in the marsh boardwalk.

The Kortright Centre is located three kilometers west of Highway 400
and one kilometer south of Major Mackenzie Drive at 9550 Pine Valley
Drive in Woodbridge.

Good birding,
