This afternoon (Oct 13, 2:00 pm) two adult Snow Geese were seen and photographed on the eastern shore of the Woolwich Reservoir. They were loafing with a large flock of Canada Geese, Green-winged Teal and Mallards. Closer to the middle of the lake, also with Canada Geese, were two Cackling Geese.
Woolwich Reservoir is north of Elmira. Take Arthur St north about 1 km and turn west on Reid Woods Rd. The main gate is about 1 km on the right. Access to the northern end of the reservoir is possible from Florapine Rd. Look for the Lion's Trail at the NW corner of the property. Walk south to where the trail veers west and make your way through the willows to the shore. You can see most of the lake from this point.
