It had been banded at Gull Island at Presqu'Ile Provincial Park last month by a CWS banding crew. The other tern carried a light coloured band with the characters, R5. There were also approximately 125 Caspian Terns, 100 Common Terns, 1,000 Double-crested Cormorants, 75 Herring Gulls and 20 Ring-billed Gulls which roosted on the island overnight. Ontbirders are encouraged to watch for colour banded colonial waterbirds. Herring Gulls, Caspian Terns, Great Egrets, Great Blue Herons and Double-crested Cormorants have all been colour-banded on the Great Lakes this summer. There
