There was an adult *Northern Goshawk* at Sudden Tract, between Cambridge and
Paris. This bird may have been there all summer. In the first week in May, I
heard a calling N. Goshawk in this same area. On a half a dozen subsequent
visits, I never saw or heard it. However, today while walking the trails at
Sudden Tract, it stopped and perched for a few seconds in a nearby tree. It
was not agressive in the manner of adults with nests nearby.

You can see a photo here: Northern
Goshawk<http://ontfin.com/Word/northern-goshawk-accipter-gentalis/>
.

If you do decide to look for it, be sure to bring bug spray.

Also in the area along Shouldice Road, you may find:

*Sandhill Cranes, Common Moorhen, Bobolink, Savannah Sparrow, Eastern
Bluebirds and Grasshopper Sparrows*, all with young.

Directions:

Get on old Highway 24A (Spragues Rd.) between Paris and Cambridge and turn
east on Beke Road (there is an Antique-Junk dealer on the corner. Go 0.9 km.
and you will see a marked trail on your left. It has a sign post with a
mosquito warning. The bird was about five minutes walk along this trail.

For Shouldice Rd, continue along Beke Road and turn left on Shouldice. After
a hollow with a marsh (worth a stop), you will come to an open field with
towers. The length of this road to the next corner offers good birding.
