Posted with permission of the ONTBIRDS coordinator: As Journey North draws to a close for another year, we make one last request your “first sightings” of target species. In particular, this weekend, migrating monarch butterflies – well known “honourary birds” have been swarming across the border from the USA in good numbers. Numerous reports have been received from birders from Point Pelee east to Kingston and north to MacGregor Point Provincial Park (monarch eggs!).
I have just received reports of monarch sightings from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick! Reports can be filed at www.learner.org/jnorth, or sent directly to this writer ([EMAIL PROTECTED]), BUT NOT POSTED TO ONTBIRDS. Thank you for your strong support for this remarkable program and the 700,000 children in Canada and the U.S.A. who study animal migration and season change through Journey North.
