Beamer Point had a good variety of hawks on April 5 with the majority of birds being very high. Highlights included a juvenile goshawk identified by Branden Holden and a juvenile golden eagle. Both of these birds gave the parking lot excellent views. Some pictures of the birds are available at:
http://tinyurl.com/6zsrkt Other migrating raptors included red-tailed hawk, red-shouldered hawk, coopers hawk, sharp-shinned hawk, osprey, peregrine falcon, American kestrel, turkey vulture, bald eagle, northern harrier and rough legged hawks. Other birds seen were tree swallows, red-bellied woodpeckers, fox sparrow and a sand-hill crane. Today will likely be a favourable day with south winds but the birds will be high due to the lack of cloud.
