Hello Ontbirders,
On Wednesday, March 26, there were at least 4 AMERICAN WOODCOCK calling and
displaying at a wet field in Whitby. The birds were active from at least 8:00
to 8:20 pm. This site has been reliable for at least 8 seasons.

Directions:
Exit hwy 401 at Thickson Road (Exit #412) and go south about 1/2 km to Victoria
Street East. Turn left (east) and go past shopping plazas on both sides of the
road until you have driven 0.9 km. If you reach the storage site, you have
gone too far. The site is a wet field on the south (right) side of the road.
The birds may be heard from the roadside, but you will hear and see them much
better by walking into the field. The birds are well distributed between the
road and the railroad embankment, but are usually easier to find near the
southeast end.

Good birding,
Steve LaForest,
Oshawa
