Birders, We walked around Lake Seneca on the Seneca College, King Campus property this afternoon - Sunday March 23, there is a property/trail map at the first dirt/mud parking lot on the right. There was no charge today but there is usually a fee. We started from the main parking lot off Dufferin just north of 15th Avenue (Bloomington Rd). Had 1 Pileated Woodpecker calling loudly and flying over us right near the start of the trail (walking north from the parking lot).
After walking around the lake and not seeing or hearing much, other than many Black-capped Chickadees, I heard the trill of Bohemian Waxwings, as we neared the cedar trees the entire flock of 100+ Bohemian Waxwings took off (this was at 'Recreation Island' below the college buildings, down by the lake). Also, on Saturday, I had an adult Cooper's Hawk buzz the feeders at our place near Yonge & Stouffville in north Richmond Hill.
