As I began an (unsuccessful) attempt to find the snowy Owl at Colonel
Samuel Smith Park this morning, I found a pair of Harlequin Ducks at the
base of 23rd Street (the western edge of the park). They were fairly
close to shore in a mixed flock of dabblers and divers. Unfortunately,
the Harlequins took off a few minutes after I arrived (approx. 8:30),
heading east. There was a large flock of ducks east of the park. They
may have landed there, but I couldn't relocate them.
Directions to the park (per Wayne Renaud):
the parking lot for the park is located at the terminus of road that
continues off the south end of Kipling where it meets Lakeshore Boulevard
(at Humber Campus).
23rd Street runs south from Lakeshore Blvd, one light west of Kipling.
