Birders

With the able assistance of Blake Maybank from Nova Scotia, Todd Pepper
of Leamington and myself have prepared a winter list for Ontario. The
list is for the winter period between December 1 and February 28 (Feb 29
this year). There could be errors and omissions but the list is intended to include birds that have been reported in the winter. Review birds listed for the current season have not been evaluated by the Ontario Bird Records Committee. A number of rare birds on the winter list may not have been accepted or reviewed by the OBRC. This is unofficial list that serves two purposes.

Foremost it highlights winter birds of interest to active Ontario
birders. Birds listed on an orange background could easily be missed
from a birders "Big Winter". Birds with blue background are major winter
and/or year round rarities. Common birds that are expected over the
winter season are shown with a light background.

The list may also focus some observers in directions they have not
considered and may be used a measure to compare what is being seen.

Todd Pepper and myself will maintain this list but we need your help
please send reports (as well as corrections and revisions) to both of
us.
