The female Harlequin Duck, which has been seen regularly in December was seen in the open water portion below the Ontario side of Dechenes Rapids yesterday and today around 4 pm both days. I have observed this bird for the first time on December 9th at the upper portion of the rapids on the Quebec side but wrongly identified it as a female Bufflehead due to poor visibility at the end of the day.
Today, two male Common Mergansers were in the same waters.
