Today David Hallett and I found Virginia Rail in small cattail marsh on the
floodplain of the Credit River nne of Streetville, Mississauga. The rail
did not call but because of the relatively small size of marsh it give us
several good views over a period of about 15 minutes ... albeit with not
without some major coaxing by circling the marsh! The small marsh may be
somewhat difficult to find without obvious major micro land marks, hopefully
the direction posted below will help get you to the general area. I suggest
referencing a recent road map of Mississauga before venturing out.

Directions:
The marsh was on the east side of the Credit River roughly between Riverview
Park to the south and Riverrun Park to the north. The nearest parking area
adjacent the marsh is located in small park located off Monty's Drive (close
to the intersection with Stancombe Crescent) which runs west of Creditview
Road (one block north of Brittania Road). The other nearest intersection is
Brittania Road or Mississauga Rd. (aka Queen Street and Brittania Road). A
trail leads west down to a wide path that roughly parallels the east bank of
the Credit River. The marsh is located approx. 300 m. upstream or nne in an
area only about 20' x 50' in size with a relatively small area of open water
and is at the north end of a narrow channel running south into the river.
