Hey Birders,

My Dad Jim, Brother Mike and I led a local field naturalists outing to
Niagara today. We had a good day with the mentioned 10 gull species.
Highlights are broken down below.

Fort Erie: Black-headed Gull - adult observed along the US shore across from
house #537, the same bird that has been around for the last few days. Thanks
a lot to Alan Wormington for letting us know about his group's sighting
earlier in the day.

Horned Grebe (2)

Control Gates:

2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls (adult and first-winter)

1 Thayer's Gull - 3rd winter

Pumphouse:

Purple Sandpiper - 2 birds were seen above the pumphouse, provided pretty
good looks before they vanished behind the rocks. Thanks to the birder who
pointed them out to us just before they went behind the rock!

4 Lesser Black-backed Gulls

1 Iceland Gull - first winter

Below the Falls:

Little Gull - 1 adult

Red-necked Grebe - 1

Common Loon - 1

Adam Beck:

Iceland Gull - 4 - 3 adults, 1 first-winter

Thayer's Gull - 1 adult

Niagara-on-the-Lake:

Iceland Gull - 1 adult

Horned Grebe - 1

Red-throated Loon - 5

Gray's Road - Stoney Creek:

Glaucous Gull -1 adult

All three scoter spp.

Overall a good day (65 species), we got into NOTL and were postponed by the
HUGE Santa Claus parade, literally the whole town was out!!

Anyways good birding, if you want more specific direction's email me or look
at the previous posts.
