This morning (Sunday Dec 2 2007) at 9:00 am there was a large flock (300+) of Bohemian Waxwings beside Prince of Wales Drive opposite the entrance to Fletcher Gardens at the Experimental Farm in Ottawa. The Oregon Junco reported earlier was still at the feeder behind the FWG Interpretive Centre along with a flock of Common Redpolls and other winter birds.
Directions borrowed from Chris Lewis; >From downtown Ottawa, ON, take Preston St. south until it becomes Prince of Wales Dr. at Dow's Lake, continue south and look for the sign on your left indicating the Fletcher Wildlife Garden. The FWG Interpretive Centre (#138) is at the very end of the driveway..but there are many areas worth exploring here for birds, including those at the nearby Arboretum of the Central Experimental Farm. The Oregon Junco has also been seen by the feeders at the south side of the FWG (opposite Carleton University), as well as at the Arboretuem near building #72. -- Brian Mortimer Ottawa Ontario [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
