Hi Ontbirders, This afternoon, 4 Nov, Debbie Campbell and I went to Milton Road to look for Sandhill Cranes. Between 2 PM and 2:30 we searched the length of Milton, including looking south from Smith Road and saw nothing, noting that just a few days ago the cranes numbered over 70. About 2:30 we stopped on Perreault Road at Milton and got out for a scan. Just then, three cranes flew over us from the east and landed in the cornfield directly opposite the end of Perreault. They were only a few hundred yards off Milton and gave the closest viewing I have ever had of Sandhill Cranes on Milton Road - Perhaps the family group of two adults and a juvenile previously reported. They were still in the cornfield at 4PM when we returned to check.
