Observation start time: 06:00:00
Observation end time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 9 hours

Official Counter: Don Wiens

Observers: Claude Radley, Janina Radley, Jim McCoy, Tom Hince, none

Visitors:
With the inclement weather in the morning visitors were few, but some
friends from Montreal joined us in the afternoon.

Weather:
The day began with steady rain for the first 3.5 hours, then lighter
drizzle for another 1.5 hours, with the rain finally ending around 11am
EST. The skies remained entirely cloudy all day. Winds were moderate out
of the north, shifting to NW for the last two hours of the count.

Raptor Observations:
No raptors flew during the morning rain, but quickly began to move as soon
as the rain lightened up. Sharpies dominated today but there was also a
good movement of Harriers (including 18 males). The highlight of the day
was a low, slow pass over the marsh by a juvenile Golden Eagle just 30
minutes before the end of the count.

Non-raptor Observations:
As soon as the rain eased up partially Tree Swallows began to move, with at
least 500 seen passing by. Several flocks of Starlings numbering in the
thousands were observed.

Predictions:
There is a slight chance of early morning showers, then a mix of sun and
cloud for most of the day. Winds will be mild to moderate from the NW
slowly shifting to N. Should be good!
