Skies were clear throughout the day but a heavy haze and an increase in humidity in the early afternoon greatly reduced visibility. Winds were very light and variable to about noon when they became light to moderate east-southeast. Raptor Observations: The flight under these conditions was predictably slow with much of it to the north in the misty haze. With very little wind during the morning, it was midday before any vulture movement was recorded. This activity was well to the north and short-lived, taking place over a few hours in the middle portions of the day although during that time some rather sizable kettles were seen. Peregrines continue to be a pleasant surprise this season and this fall overall is shaping up to be one of the better ones in the last few years.
