Winds were light and variable early in the day becoming southwest at mid morning and finally moderate south-southeast by early afternoon. Raptor Observations: The strongest push of birds was in the first half of the day with the visible flight tapering off in the afternoon as the southeast winds pushed birds further to the north. The flight overall dropped off much more quickly in the afternoon than seen the last few days. Vultures were recorded in the highest numbers so far this fall and Sharpies continued to move strongly. Highlights of the day included a dark morph SwainsonÂ’s Hawk and the fine total of 6 Peregrine Falcons.
