These dissipated almost completely but were eventually replaced by a high cirrus layer making for excellent viewing throughout the day. The winds began the day from the northeast but swung around to the southeast and picked up considerably by mid morning. It was apparent however that the upper level winds were more west dominated as the flight was spread over the whole sky with many birds passing directly overhead. Raptor Observations: The flight overall was steady pretty much from the second hour of the count but dropped off sharply at the end of the day. Most impressive was the very good Harrier and Kestrel movement along with another solid Sharpie day. Some small kettles of Broad-wings were recorded as well lots of single birds. The TV flight was perhaps not as big as expected given the substantial migration of other species but these numbers will certainly shoot up over the next few days. Non-raptor Observations: Blue Jays moved well early in the day but the numbers overall were not as impressive as the last several days. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Calvin Brennan ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.smrr.net/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
