Weather:
Today saw sunny conditions during the morning with cloud cover rapidly
building into the area in the afternoon ahead of an approaching cold front.
Winds were light to moderate southwest early becoming moderate
west-southwest and then fairly strong from the west by early afternoon.

Raptor Observations:
The flight was somewhat slow early but picked up nicely by mid morning.
Some very nice groups of Broad-wings came by during the late morning and
early afternoon, but eventually the fairly strong winds and the approaching
cloud mass knocked down these groups with the last of them flying low and
directly over the count area. Highlighting this movement was the seasonÂ’s
first SwainsonÂ’s Hawk, a light morph adult.

Non-raptor Observations:
Impressive numbers of Chimney Swifts moved through the area today with
certainly thousands migrating ahead of the frontal system. Several dozen
hummingbirds were also noted today.
