Weather conditions were not conducive to hawks migrating along the lakefront.
The full blue sky allowed us to see only Monarchs--perhaps 20/hour over a
2-hour morning period.

Among the birds noted--1 mockingbird, 1 yellow warbler, 1 American redstart, 7
Great Crested flycatcher, 1 eastern phoebe, 5 pectoral sandpipers, 1
black-bellied plover, 2 short-billed dowitchers, 7 GREAT EGRETS (too distant to
detect leg bands), 40+ Great blue herons, 10+Green herons, 1 male Wood duck.

A juv. Northern Harrier flew low over the wetland several times.

Cranberry Marsh is near the lakefront, accessed from Victoria St. along Hall's
Rd. in southwest Whitby.
