The Hamilton Community Peregrine Project, coordinated by the Hamilton
Naturalists' Club, is pleased to announce the arrival today of the
first Peregrine Falcon chick of 2007 at the Sheraton Hamilton Hotel.
Four eggs were laid, so with luck three more chicks will hatch.
Birders can keep an eye on the chicks at:

falcons.hwcn.org\

When the chicks are learning to fly and can be seen from the ground
directions will be posted.

Hello everyone,

For those in the Toronto area who might be thinking of heading down to High Park (which looks good with SW winds forecast for tonight so far); I went out for a hike around the park today and easily located a YELLOW-THROATED VIREO which spent the entire day singing around the picnic area just to the north of Colborne Lodge. Also in that same spot I counted 9 INDIGO BUNTINGS all travelling together. I also had a SCARLET TANAGER just off the staircase at the southwest area of High Park on Grenadier pond.

Other birds throughout were not in great numbers, but a reasonably good diversity. BALTIMORE ORIOLES seem to be singing from every spot in the park. I counted 29 of them. Other Vireos included one BLUE-HEADED and 9 WARBLING (also in many different areas in the park). One LINCOLN'S Sparrow I observed working the leaf litter in the vicinity of the Grenadier cafe.

Warblers: 10 species

YELLOW-RUMPED 46
YELLOW 18
BLACK AND WHITE 8
BLACK-THROATED GREEN 2
BLACK-THROATED BLUE 2
CHESTNUT-SIDED 1
PINE 2 (Spring road in the pine trees)
PALM 3
NASHVILLE 2
OVENBIRD 1

Good birding,

Jay Peterson
Toronto

High Park is located just west of Keele street, between Bloor St. W and the Queensway.
