A quick trip to Ashbridges Bay in Toronto at around 5 pm yesterday resulted in a Common Loon (just off the point furthest into the lake, a pair of Gadwall (across from the moored boats in a little bay)2 Black Crowned Night Herons in full breeding plumage (on the rocks leading into the small bay), a number of Common Terns, Long Tailed Ducks and a few Bufflehead. Also present were many Double Crested Cormorants, and a male Belted Kingfisher announced himself to one and all. Along the walking trails, a number of White Throated and Song Sparrows were foraging, and a few Ruby Crowned Kinglets were in the evergreens along the various fence lines surrounding the marina.
Good birding. Asbridges Bay is located at the foot of Leslie St. at Lakeshore, in Toronto. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! It seems to be sticking to a peninsula which sticks into the middle of Bay Lake which seems to act as a mini migrant trap in spring. Today it was seen between #1441 and #1451 Bay Lake Rd. first on the south side of the road, then on the north. I lost it around 9:15am. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=45%C2%B030'2.11%22N+79%C2%B012'8.24% 22W&ie=UTF8&ll=45.500572,-79.202328&spn=0.041871,0.059824&t=h&z=14&iwloc=add r&om=1 DIRECTIONS >From Huntsville take Hwy 11 north about 10 minutes. At Novar take Hwy #592 North about 5 minutes. At Bay Lake Rd., turn right and follow for about 10 minutes keeping to Bay Lake Rd. The Grosbeak has been seen between #1380 and #1451.
