Hey Birders,
Mike and I saw the male Yellow-throated Warbler today in Stoney Creek around
3:30 and again at 4:00 pm. The bird was singing and foraging along Church
Street. There was also quite a lot of birding activity in the area,
including; 1 BGGN, YRWA, PAWA and a BAWW.
***It should be noted, that this bird has yellow lores which is
characteristic of the nominate subspecies, D.d. dominica. We discussed this
issue with Jean Iron and other birders agreed with this consensus. As far as
I know this is only the fourth record ever for Ontario.
Directions (from the previous post):
From the QEW highway in Hamilton, take the Hwy 20
(Centennial Parkway) exit and go north to the North Service Rd. Turn
right and go east past Grays Rd to Teal Ave. Turn left on Teal and take
it to the end at Church St. Turn right here and the park is on the
right side.
Good luck and good birding,
Ken Burrell
