Snow Geese were distributed along concessions west of St. Isidore and
continuing about half way to Casselman today. There was no single major
flock but numerous flocks of 200-500 and a few of 1,000 or more. They were
generally set back a single field. Most birds were on the ground in corn
stubble but some occasionally took to the air. There was also another flock
of about 500 just south of the Hwy 138 exit off the 417. The inclement
weather may have dampened their spirits.

There was a dark-phased Rough-legged Hawk at St. Isidore.

St. Isidore is 40 minutes east of Ottawa along Hwy 417.

Hi Birders,

Today was a wet one but I went out anyway. I'm glad I did as I got t
o watch 15 Sandhill Cranes on Milton Rd. They were in the usual
area, about halfway between the road and the treeline.

I also found 7 Hooded Mergansers, a Herring Gull, a Great Blue Heron,
several muskrats and little else at Petrie Island.......

Cheers, Eve

Hi Birders,

Today at 12.30 pm, my wife and I walked along the Green Ribbon Trail in St.
Catharines. The trail overlooks Richardson Creek and crosses the west end
of Martindale Pond. We observed three Fox Sparrows and two Caspian Terns.
The Caspian Terns were flying back and forth over the area between the
Martindale Rd. bridge that crosses Martindale Pond and Richardson's Creek.

>From the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Martindale Road, travel north on
Martindale Road. After crossing the QEW, continue north on Martindale Road
for 1.0-1.5 km. The Green Ribbon Trail parking area will be on the left.
