To all who may be stopping at 2800 County Rd. 1 in Prince Edward
County I would like to request that you not park on the side of the
road, we have lots of room if you pull into our drive. It is great to
share our birdfeeding area and are always glad to welcome anyone. Our
husky dog, Meeko, is often outside guarding her birds and welcoming
people and if there are cars parked at the road and people standing
out there it is an enticement for her to join you. She actually
chases hawks away.
Yesterday at lunch the Phoebe showed up, hanging around the lilacs in
the front. This morning I heard the Snipes winnowing and a pair of
wood ducks are flying over the lower pasture near the swamp. There is
a good pathway to the west of our barn which will lead you down to
some ponds where you can see beavers and the wood ducks plus other
species.
The Harris's Sparrow has not been here since March 18th to my
knowledge. We can always guarantee that you will see the Red-Bellied
Woodpeckers who have been coming to our feeders for a number of
years. Thank you, Nancy Fox

As of 9:30 this morning, there were +/- 330 tundra swans located in a
farmer's field near Bloomingdale. Also spotted were 2 American
Widgeons, a kildeer, a horned lark, and a number of mallards. They were
there last night. Hopefully they're still there but who knows.
Bloomingdale is near Waterloo.
From Hwy 401, take hwy 8 to Kitchener, then hwy 85 to Waterloo. Take
the Lancaster exit and turn right on Lancaster, right onto Bridge, then
left onto Bloomingdale road which turns into Sawmill Road. Turn Right
onto St. Charles. The field will be on your right hand side, adjacent
to Spitzig Rd.
