The aechmophorus grebe was in the bay just west of the southeast peninsula on the Leslie St Spit at 3pm today, less than 100m south of the paved road. Last Sunday afternoon it was off the southeast tip, so you may have to look around. The first 4 cormorants of the spring on the spit were roosting on peninsula B. Several red-necked grebes were found by Winnie Poon and Roy Smith off the east side of the spit. Several more of these and at least 2 horned grebes were off the south side (the flats). In Ashbridge's Bay Park at the foot of Coxwell Avenue, another horned grebe was with 3 male Ring-necked ducks just south of Lakeshore Blvd. Off the south tip of the park, the only horned grebe of the day that was well into its molt into breeding plumage was found.

Subject: [Ontbirds]aechmophorus grebe still at Leslie St.Spit

The aechmophorus grebe seen last week at the Leslie Street Spit was
still present this afternoon [17 March]. It was re-located by Jim
Fairchild off the Flats, about 500m west of the SE tip [aka Pipit
Point] at about 14:40. Roy Smith and I watched it until 17:30 in that
  area.

Direction: The Leslie Street Spit is located at the foot of Leslie
  Street in Toronto.
