This afternoon while driving through Lefroy on my way to Bradford, a lone Turkey Vulture went over Killarney Beach Road in mid Town.It was travelling in a Northerly direction at a fairly low alttitude. While in Bradford I tried for the Snowies that Ron Fleming has reported recently. I started down Simcoe Road south of Canal Rd(Jonkman's Corners) and travelled about an 1/4 mile and scanned the Fields to the East. Here was a Beautiful Speciman of a Male Snowy with hardly a Spot to be found. It was about 400 yards out into the field and slightly behind(to the North) This fild still had alot of Snow, but the Lump of the Bird was quite evident.I viewed tis Bird with 10 power Bins and my Scope for about 10 minutes, then continued my Search. On Wanda St, south of Canal Rd a male Northern Harrier did a Flyby.Further along Wanda St an Ammerican Kestrel was perched on the Wire. It was a Female.Along Wist Rd which parrallels the 400 another Kestrel was on the Wires, this one was a Male. These last three birds are probably the ones posted today by Ron. No other Snowies were found as I made a Circle of the Holland Marsh East of the 400. At home a male Red-winged Blackbird arrived at the Feeder Station. Holland Marsh is located between Hwy 11 and Hwy 400, north of Hwy 9 and south of Canal Road. Lefroy is located on Lake Simcoe(Cook's Bay) on Killarney Beach Road(4th Line of Innisfil),East of Hwy 11.

The birds were in the ditches near the highway 48 exit in the Markham area. While definitely not rare, we also counted 46 Red-tailed hawks along the same stretch of highway. In some areas there were as many as 5 hawks perched within 25 metres of each other. Directions: Highway 407 runs from Brock Road, Pickering in the east, west to Niagara. The birds were seen along the sides of the 407 from Brock Road to the 401 exit in the west end of Toronto. Allyson & Bruce Parker Cobourg
