While driving near Melbourne I saw 10 Meadowlarks. Every time I tried to get
close they would fly.
So I had to observe them from about 300 feet. Eastern or Western????/ hard to
tell at that distance. It is cold and windy .
Directions::I saw the birds on Hyndman Dr. Between Thames Rd and Mayfair Rd .
Hyndman is approx. 2.7 Km south of #2 Highway and # 2 runs through Melbourne.
There is 2 old windmills One on each side of the road. The birds were in the
grass by the road.
Thames and Mayfair run north and south approx. 7 or 8 Km west of Melbourne
To reach Melbourne take Exit # 86 of the 402 and go West or
of the 401 take Exit # 157 and go North or Exit # 149 [ Go north] which
becomes Thames Road north of the River

Birded the western half of the Island for a couple of hours today. Saw 2
Red-Tailed Hawks, a female Kestrel, a pheasant, several Rough-legged Hawks,
several flocks of Horned Larks, a Northern Harrier and a Cooper's Hawk (the
latter was seen in Marysville). Bitterly cold but bright sunny day.
