On Saturday January 20, between 10:00 am and 12:00 noon, 6 short-eared owls were seen by myself, Caroline Walmsley and Andrew Ryckman. The owls are easy to see and can be found in the various conifers near to the road. We enjoyed watching them as they took flight and circled us before landing nearby, one on a fencepost. Andrew took a nice photo, which I can send to anyone interested. The owls were osberved on Concession 6, just north of Fisherville, between Fisherville Road and the Selkirk Townline. There was a flock of 4000+ snow buntings in the hay fields on McNeil Road just south of Moose Creek on Saturday.=20 To get there from Ottawa take the 417 East to the Moose Creek/ Cornwall exit (highway 138). Head south, past the Moose Creek turn off, to McNeil Road. Travel west on McNeil Road and look in the fields on the south side of the road.=20 Lesley Howes=20
