On Dec. 24 and again this morning Dec. 26, we found a male Black-backed Woodpecker along the Trans Canada Trail east of Henry marsh in Bracebridge. The first location was near an orange trail marker in a small fir tree, a short distance east of the marsh. Today's location was further east, just past the place where the trail dips down. Look for a green trail marker on a maple tree. See the Muskoka Bird Board for any updates.

Directions: Take Hwy. 11 north of Barrie. Take first Bracebridge exit, and follow Hwy. 118W (Ecclestone Dr.) to first set of traffic lights. Turn left onto Beaumont Dr., and eventually left onto Henry Rd. There is a parking area by the pile of woodchips at the trailhead. When you come to the "T" in the trail by the marsh, turn left. (bird was 10-15 min. walk from car)
