Kelso Conservation area was very busy with warblers this afternoon. There were several groups throughout the area, with birds moving so fast that I missed about 1/2 of them. I saw 12 species, including several adult Wilson warblers and an excellent view of an adult Golden-Winged Warbler. Also in the mudflats in the adjoining gravel pit was a possible immature Yellow-Crowned Night Heron. The bill was dark and very thick, and overall color was darker than a Black-Crowned. It was wading in the mudflats with several Yellowlegs and other shorebirds, too distant to identify.

Kelso CA is north of Burlington, near Steeles Ave. and Appelby Line. The gravel pit can be looked into (preferably with a scope) from the east boundary fence of the Conservation area. Use the upper (south) entrance to get into the CA.
