There seems to be a modest movement of warblers including black-and-white and
yellow-rumped. Choke cherries and black cherries are attracting large flocks
of cedar waxwings as well as orioles, catbirds and other fruit eaters.
Monarch butterflies are spectacular with thousands roosting and resting
throughout sheltered areas of the woods.
Be prepared for numerous hungry mosquitoes.

Hi Everyone
Birded Amherst Island today, August 13, 2006. Spent much of the time at
the east end (KFN) property. Highlights included 1 juv. Stilt Sandpiper, 7
juv. Short-billed Dowitcher, 1 Great Egret and 1 American Bittern. The ponds
were very low with Semipalmated and Least Sandpipers, both Yellowlegs, 8
Semipalmated Plover and one breeding plumage Black-bellied Plover.
At the gravel bar 37 Caspian Tern and a flock of 26 adult Greater

mainly Tree and Barn were observed feeding over the fields with a smaller
number of Bank, Cliff and Rough-winged. Overhead at least 50+ Bobolinks were
heard calling.
We made a quick stop at Amherstview Sewage Lagoon and 80+ Bonaparte's
